Mahyco

Mahyco Pvt Limited (“Mahyco”) is the pioneer of high quality hybrid and open pollinated seeds in the country. Mahyco’s predecessor-in interest, Maharashtra Hybrid Seeds Co. Pvt. Limited was founded in 1964 by Dr. B. R. Barwale, Mahyco is one of the largest private sector seed companies in India. Dr. Barwale is also widely regarded as the father of the Indian seed industry and has received several awards for his outstanding contribution to the agriculture industry, including the 12th World Food Prize by the World Food Prize Foundation in 1998, Padma Bhushan, from Hon’ble President of India in 2001, and most recently Maharashtra Corporate Excellence (Maxell) Lifetime Achievement Award 2016. Mahyco is engaged in research, development, production, processing and marketing of over 220 products including cotton, cereals, oilseeds and vegetables. It has to its credit 22 notified research varieties. Through the use of cutting edge technology and intensive research activities, Mahyco has revolutionized the agrarian face of the country. The company has a state-of-the art R&D centre at Dawalwadi near Jalna in Maharashtra, with an on-going hybrid breeding program in over 10 crop species. Apart from the main R&D centre in Jalna, Mahyco has four other research centres, several research farms and other location offices distributed across the country with over 111 scientists engaged in the research programs. Mahyco’s predecessor-in-interest was the first seed company worldwide to successfully commercialize F1 hybrid cotton based on GMS/CMS system. It was also the first private enterprise in India to produce and market hybrids in sorghum, pearl millet, wheat and sunflower. In 2002, Mahyco’s predecessor-in-interest strengthened its product offerings by releasing India’s first GM crop – Bt Cotton. Mahyco has a long track-record of supporting and participating in innovative research and initiatives in agriculture in partnership with public institutes and private companies. LongReach Plant Breeders

LongReach Plant Breeders is a commercial wheat breeding business established in 2002 to develop wheat varieties for Australian wheat growers and the export market. LongReach is a joint venture between ADVANTA Pty Ltd, and Syngenta Australia Pty Ltd, The national wheat breeding program is designed to deliver high yielding varieties with attractive traits for all the key production zones in the Australian wheat belt. LongReach understands the need for breeding programs to respond quickly to the needs of growers, marketers and end-users. The use of advanced technology allows LongReach to meet market requirements.

RAGT

Founded in 1919 and established in all major European agricultural regions, RAGT Semences, produces and sells seeds including wheat, barley, oilseed rape, oats, forage grass and soil health crops.

Innovation is vital to us, that’s why we spend over 14% of our turnover in research and breeding, supporting 17 subsidiaries, 17 research stations, 280 000 experimental plots and 4 multi-species laboratories. Today, more than 775 people are working in the RAGT Seeds group, of which 280 are dedicated to research. RAGT 2n, the company’s research subsidiary, has 39 breeding programmes in 26 species, with 6 programmes dedicated to wheat breeding.

SEED CO

Seed Co Limited`s mission is to Breed, Seed, Feed and Lead in Africa. Seed Co `s cornerstone is market-oriented Research and Development in bread wheat, hybrid maize, soyabean and sorghum hybrids. Field Crop varieties are developed and bred at Seed Co`s strategically located research stations in all three corners of Africa. In order to address fully the food security needs of Africa, Seed Co thrives on a wide seed distribution network and contract grower base within its Business Units to provide suitable and adapted certified seed varieties to large and small-scale farmers across the African continent.
